The winter months bring the potential for inclement weather. Your children will bring home their electronic devices during the upcoming winter break. We are sending these home in case of inclement weather when school resumes on January 6, 2025. Please remember to return devices fully charged when children return to school.
In the case of severe inclement weather that would necessitate closing our school buildings, we plan to utilize an E-learningday for students. School closing decisions due to inclement weather are made due to significant snowfall or bitterly cold temperatures that would make getting to school unsafe for our families. The decision to close schools and remain open for E-learning are challenging decisions. Our superintendent works closely with the superintendents from Riverside Brookfield High School District 208, Brookfield LaGrange Park District 95, and Komarek District 94. They work in partnership to make an informed decision based on the most current weather information. Our goal is to decide about a school closure/shift to E-learning between 7:00 and 8:00 pm the night before an E-Learning day. We understand the importance of knowing this information well enough to plan for child care and support at home. Please know that Riverside Parks and Recreation will offer supervised child care and E-learning support in conjunction with any E-learning day determination made by District 96.
