hey I'm glad you decided to log on to the Essential Elements website there you will find some great resources you can practice with a background check like we do in class you can record karate belt songs for misal into you can watch videos there are PDF files there a links some great resources so let's get started you will need two things from your binder that sheet that I gave you the beginning of the year that looks like this you going to need the student quick start guide on you'll need that because you need the school code from it and the student ID from it now if you have lost this year let me know and I'll email you another one you also are going to need your book because on the inside cover of your book down here is a student activation code that's important to me or being able to log on so let's get started I have a shortcut to the Essential Elements website in my clever app you guys have clever not sure where it's stored on your Chromebook but I do oh on your Chromebook you also have a shortcut to the Essential Elements website and I'll show you what it looks like on it's a picture that kind of looks like you're right here to see me circling this icon with my cursor so you click on the shortcut takes you to the screen you can read down here about getting started but I want you to click on where it says students and where it says student sign-in not registered create an account so we're going to create an account quick that it asked what are the essential elements school code and like on here your school code you're going to type District 96 next you're going to type your student ID and so listed right here which is your first name first initial of your last name their instruments I'm going to click enter next it says you have to check the box that you have your own personal copy of the book check the box I have read and agree to the terms of agreement & Privacy statement you should read next you enter the activation code from the inside cover of your book so that's this code that down here in activation code this book has already been entered so I'm going to go ahead and enter it but I'm not going to get very far because it's already in the system this one will see how far I can go but after you enter you where do you click continue and then you create your own username whatever you want it to be and you create your own password so I'll see how far I can get here password Here can I create the account and it says please verify what you have chosen for your username and your password and you also said put that on your student activate student quick start guide right here so that you can remember what you've decided you would use your name as in your password is writing it down to help you or the next time you want to login I'm going to say confirm of course that username is already in use and so to telling me to choose another one but whatever you choose it will accept then you click create account then it's going to ask you to log off and to log back on again so I logged off Milan back in this time I'm going to login as myself as teacher sign in and I just wanted to show you around a little bit so up here at the top I'm circling my cursor around the mic phone icon quick on their first this is where you access the background tracks look at the left dark gray box here I'm scrolling up and down on quick view song there's other things to explore course there's six pages of songs left there look down here there is Jingle Bells Jingle Bells I want to practice Jingle Bells with my violin I'm going to freak are Viola well actually here instrument what what instrument do you play I'll go ahead and click and violin accompaniment you can choose the metronome which is just click click Channel holiday Country Club Des Moines you know how you guys do this during class of holiday for Jingle Bells right up here on this triangle you push the triangle and it's going to tell you to get ready quick like we do in class turn off to read for Place their play along with it and enjoy all right I'm going to stop it if you want to record yourself this red button is you push while you're playing to record it it will save your recording and then I can access it you know like if this is a karate belt I could hear it in sign you up cuz you know how sometimes we don't have time to do that during class when we're all together let me show you another resource before I sign off here this one with the music notes in the film script says resources click on that for a second you can see that there are videos MP3 files PDF files links right now here's all of them here's a lipsi let's look at the cello left arm hand shape so you can read what they have to say about what but they have recorded here click on the video
