After learning to find the volume of rectangular prisms on paper, Mrs. Faletti's 5th graders took to the hallway to apply their learning. They measured the cubbies in inches and centimeters and then calculated their volume.
It was Apple Day in Kindergarten at Hollywood School. Our young Huskies made their own applesauce and tried 7 different varieties of apples. After tasting them all, they created a graph of their favorites. 🍎🍏
Ms. Koch’s 4th graders celebrated wrapping up their Personal Narratives unit with a sweet treat—chocolate milkshakes! Students read a personal narrative about author Peg Kehret, who contracted polio and spent months recovering. During her illness, chocolate milkshakes were one of the few foods she was able to eat. What a perfect way to celebrate the end of the unit!
3rd graders finished their unit on Classic Stories and made a new disguise for Toad from the tale "The Wind in the Willows."
3rd graders read "The Dot," by Peter H. Reynolds to celebrate International Dot Day. They talked about how to overcome challenges and created their own dot drawings.

Hollywood Huskies hit the zoo and had a blast! Our whole school field trip was so much fun!

Ahoy, Hollywood Huskies. Our school was commandeered by singing pirates this week! Our 4th and 5th graders did a fantastic job performing in Pirates! The Musical. Special thanks to Mr. Howes for all of his hard work.
The theme of May's Town Hall was gratitude. Hollywood students made a wonderful video showing gratitude for their teachers for the start of Teacher Appreciation Week. Since this was the last Town Hall for our graduating 5th graders, they made and passed down flowers to the 4th graders, who will be next year's school leaders.
Ms. Dryanski's 1st graders took a trip to the Field Museum. They had an amazing day learning and exploring and even got up close and personal with a replica of Sue's head! What a fantastic experience!
Kindergarteners had a blast celebrating Stuffie Day—sharing their favorite stuffed animals and bringing them to life through creative drawings!
Mr. Murray's 2nd graders kicked off their spring science units this week! They worked to get the garden beds ready for planting and are ready to learn about plants, terrariums, and worms!
After researching different animals and the traits they represent, Mr. Trimmer's 5th graders designed and created their own totem poles to honor their families.
Mr. Trimmer's 5th graders conducted an experiment to see what would happen when different substances were mixed. They worked together to test glue, milk, baking soda, vinegar, and Borax to try to make a gooey substance.
