Ms. Dryanski's class is learning about the American Revolution and had tea time, 1773 style!





Mr. Murray's 2nd graders had been patiently observing a praying mantis ootheca (that's the scientific name for an egg sac!) for several weeks. They came back from a long weekend to find 100–150 praying mantis nymphs had hatched!



Little Buddies rooted for their Big Buddies in today's IAR Prep Rally! Little Buddies cheered, waved pom-poms, sang, and gave their Big Buddies notes of encouragement to try their best!










The first ever Hollywood Cultural Night was a huge success! Together, families, students, and staff gathered to celebrate the many cultures that make up our Hollywood family. It was a great evening celebrating our community.

Mrs. Faletti’s 5th Grade Advanced ELA class took learning beyond the classroom with a field trip to the Brookfield Zoo to research this year’s March Mammal Madness combatants! 🐾

First graders in Ms. Dryanski’s class are learning all about comparing numbers! 🐊 Students created fun “alligator hats” to remember that the alligator always chomps the greater number. This hands-on activity helps young mathematicians confidently choose the correct inequality sign while having a blast learning!

Our One Book, One Hollywood selection this year is The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies! The book was announced at an all-school assembly followed by delicious lemonade, courtesy of our fantastic PTA. Be sure to read the first chapter tonight! Happy reading! 🍋📖








Ms. Quiroz, Ms. Markowitz, Ms. Nelson, and Ms. Kwaz had a great time hosting a Taylor Swift Cookie Party! The Hollywood auction winners had a blast singing songs and decorating delicious cookies 🍪






🏅❄️ The Winter Olympics have arrived at Hollywood School! We kicked things off during February’s Town Hall with staff competing in the opening round of games—and now it’s the students’ turn! This week, students will take part in the Olympic fun during recess. Let the games begin!

In anticipation of inclement weather, we have made the decision to shift to an eLearning day on Friday, January 23. Student devices will be sent home with them today. To review our eLearning plan, instructions, and student expectations, visit district96.org.
Riverside Parks & Recreation will be offering supervised childcare and eLearning support at the Quincy Street Community Center (43 E. Quincy) for $38 from 8:00 AM-3:00 PM. Before and after care can be added for an additional fee. Participants can register online or onsite.
After school activities on Thursday, January 22 will continue as scheduled. Friday, January 23 before and after school activities are canceled.

Hollywood's 5th graders kicked off their study of Don Quixote with a visit from the knight himself!


Before winter break, our 5th graders spread holiday cheer by creating heartfelt holiday cards. The cards were delivered to Cantata Adult Life Services in Brookfield, where residents and staff were thrilled to receive the beautiful messages. A wonderful reminder of the power of kindness and connection!


Ms. Dryanski's 1st grade class was in charge of the first Town Hall of 2026. They led the school in some Happy New Year activities, including a countdown and dance party! Dr. Dwyer closed out the meeting by talking to the school about January's theme of Responsibility. What a great way to start the new year!

Hollywood had some very special guest readers yesterday!


The kindergarteners found out that Gingy is in China today! They learned about the Chinese New Year and made dragon puppets for a dragon dance.


Ms. Kwas' kindergarteners have been having so much fun following Gingy's travels around the world! Every day is a new adventure in kindergarten!
