Hollywood's kindergarteners had a blast carving pumpkins, counting seeds, and dressing up!

November's Town Hall was led by Hollywood's amazing 3rd graders. Dr. Dwyer talked about managing emotions. The 3rd grade students led the school in a fun activity to the song "Joe at the Button Factory." What a fantastic way to kick off the month!

Hollywood 5th graders are learning about ecosystems and decomposers. Last week, they created worm terraria in order to see decomposers in action! 🪱

The Halloween fun continues at Hollywood School! We had a great musical assembly, followed by a neighborhood parade!

Today, Hollywood 5th graders performed the book Bedtime in the Swamp for the kindergarteners. Mr. Howes narrated the story, and the 5th graders provided musical accompaniment!

Last week, our kindergarteners had a special surprise in the library! The parent volunteer came with not just a book, but costumes and props as well!

Mr. Murray's 2nd graders worked together to explore the properties of paper. They experimented to test its strength and durability. Great work!

Happy National Principals Month! We are celebrating our incredible Hollywood principal, who leads the school with dedication and inspires teachers, staff, and students every day. Take a moment to recognize and thank Principal Dwyer when you see her!

🚧 The Cowley Road railroad crossing will be closed starting October 14 for approximately 3 weeks. 🚗 Detour signs will direct traffic to the Delaplaine Road crossing. 🚲 Pedestrians, students, and cyclists are encouraged to cross at Longcommon Road.

🍎🍏 It was Apple Day in Ms. Kwas' class last week. The kindergarteners tasted different types of apples and made homemade applesauce. Yum! 🍎🍏

Last week, Mr. Murray's class worked together to explore properties of matter. In the "Mad Hatter" activity, students explored the different properties of materials used for clothing, such as texture, flexibility, and absorbency. They will use their learning to design and build a hat that protects them from the sun! 👒🧢🎩

Today's Town Hall was led by Ms. Koch's class! The 4th graders planned a bunch of fun activities promoting having a growth mindset. What a fun way to start the week!

🥥 🌴 It was Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Day today in Ms. Kwas' kindergarten class! The kids had a great time learning about letters and rhyming with Ms. Kwas as their very own coconut tree! 🥥 🌴

🍬🧪 Learning is sweet in Mr. Murray’s 2nd grade class!

Our young scientists have been hard at work exploring the fascinating world of states of matter through hands-on experiments—with candy! Students observed how different candies melt and used their findings to decide which treats would survive best at a hot summer camp. 🔥🍫

In addition to their science fun, these learners are also sharpening their reading comprehension skills by working together and supporting one another. 📚✨

Hollywood 4th graders in Mr. Howe's music class are preparing to play their recorders by blowing bubbles!🫧🎶

☀️ Nothing beats a beautiful day on the playground! Our students had fun soaking up the sunshine, spending time with friends, and being active.
We love seeing our students enjoy the outdoors and build lasting memories together. 💙
